Got out in the yard tonight and did some work. I cannot believe it myself. Laid 50 lbs. of seed and 35 lb.s of fertilizer/weed control after that. Hosed it all down so let the night begin. Tomorrow 'till Saturday it is supposed to rain off and on and then Sunday it is supposed to be nothing but sunny skies! If it doesn't, though, I will be out with the hose with one of the attatchments on it watering the lawn.
You know what this means? I better make sure my mower is working good and get ready for some outdoor exercise!
The back yard is a different story. It is eaten up with ground ivy and I have used commercial lawn controllers and tried myself and have not been able to kill the stuff. So what I am going to do is kill the lawn completely and start over. I know of no other way. This ground ivy sure ain't dandylions! They are tough stuff. And now that growing season is upon us, I do not want the crap to kill my new lawn. Ground ivy does not like the sun so I have been able to control it in the front and side areas of the lawn. It is still there but not as prevelant. I figure if I kill it off completely where it is coming from, it will help control it through the summer. Then this fall, I can re-seed the back yard with new grass seed. That is if I wait that long. The grass seed I am using prefers startups during colder climates. I am a little late but it is still cool enough in the evenings to get away with seeding what I did. Actually, I just checked the weather and the forecast is for it to get cooler so this may have been a perfect time for seeding!
I can't wait to see little baby grass blades springing up from the ground in MY lawn. Ahh, I love home ownership. Now if I could just find a roommate to support my new car habit.
