Well if you have not heard there was a school shooting in a high school in East Tenn. Some freshman came in with a handgun, shot and killed an asst. principal, wounded the principal and another asst. princ. during a lunch period today.
I just do not understand this type of thinking by the kid. I remember what it was like to be in high school and to be honest I hated most of it. I never even had an inclination to bringing a gun into the school and doing something like that. I was taught by my grandfather when I was young how to handle a gun and was shown what kind of power and devistation a fired bullet can do. Maybe I had the fear of God in me but I do not remember ever thinking about killing anyone. I do remember wanting to kick some peoples ass that were bigger than me and making friends with the football players for protection but never taking the absolute act to another person.
I do remember where my grandfather kept his .357 magnum so I knew one was available. Today I do not own a handgun and do not plan to get one. I do plan on getting a rifle someday but I am in no hurry as I would rather spend my money on other things.
I just do not understand if this 15 year old really understands what implication his decision to kill has caused. He is fixing to find out. Since I have no kids I wonder what responsibilty lies for the parents and what do they do as parents. Does a parent disown their kid the killer? Do they step back and let the law run it's course and lend support?
