I wasn't going to blog about this but since I am still up I may as well.
I went to the Oak Ridge/Farragut game tonight. It was really cold. I almost dressed for the occasion so it was not so bad even though it got down to the 30's. Last game, the Farragut team all crowded around the place where me and my friends were at and basically surronded us during halftime. Tonight was different. I was by myself and the team all gathered around me before the game, right behind me, up on the hill, before the game started. My first thought was "even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death". I know I stood out as about 80 players stood around me, dressed in their gear and there I was wearing an Oak Ridge hat with all of it's glory. I got shoulder padded a couple of times by some players but none of them disrespected me or Oak Ridge which even though all of their coaches were around I was surprised about.
So we beat them again. Oak Ridge owns Farragut. They hate us. They are a richer school. More students. Beat us in soccer, baseball and probably the amount of BMW's in the parking lot. But they met their football graveyard once again tonight at the hands of the Wildcats as they have been doing every year since the '80's! Go 'Cats.
Next week is Riverdale. Oak Ridges' own nemisis. We have never beaten Riverdale. Although the history is young, we need this win as much as a mental lift as well as going into the State Championship. I will be there at the game, you can count on it. I will be dressed for it and will be in the same spot with all of my Wildcat gear on. We win this... we go to the State.
