As I have posted earlier, my aunt took the intiative, joined the Red Cross, and volunteered to help when the hurricane victims came here.  She has kept in touch with some of them and there is one person who is still here.  Apparently from what this person has learned, everything she had is gone.  She has no where to go.  My aunt told me tonight she has $.32 to her name.  She has nothing but her critters around her.

She left the colliseum about a week ago.  My aunt nicknamed this person, "The Snake Lady".  She is about 20 years old and came up here with two snakes and a dog.  Apparently she performed tricks with the snakes to make money and did some of the tricks in front of my aunt which grossed my aunt out.  Something about swallowing the snake or something, I don't know.  From what my aunt has told me she was doing some bad stuff down there and has had to become clean since the hurricane.  Regardless, she is here and needs some help.

Sooooo, I volunteered to help this girl.  My aunt said one of the things she needs most is food for her dog.  Since I am an animal rescue dude, I am all for helping.  Off to the feed store I will go.  My aunt is going to call me tomorrow so we can get together about the details and then I can make arrangements to bring some stuff to this girl.  I hope life works out for this girl.  I cannot lie, I am going to give her some dinero when I see her.  I have been that broke before and I know how helpless that feels.  She may or may not spend it on the right things but that is for me to worry about.  I will probably only give her a small amount because I cannot afford that much.  And, she is located at a place where she might fall back into a cycle that she was in before.  Not a good area to be at.  But that will be something she will have to answer to, not me. 

So helping out will be a good thing.  I hope that others, like fairydustings, continue to do the same.  These folks need us, as Americans, to help out.
