"Elizabeth, I thought I was coming home"

I have been having a real scary couple of days lately.  I have been having chest pains lately and have been feeling lightheaded.  Yesterday after I ate a snack in the morning, I started getting light headed, felt pressure on my chest and got really scared.  I did pretty much nothing until I could go to lunch and at lunch finally decided to call a doctor.  He had an opening just after 8:00 the next morning.  All day I kept contemplating a trip to the emergency room but decided to see if I could wait it out.  A couple of months ago I felt similar to this and I got through it.

Last night was tough.  I did not eat anything all day since about 9:30 that morning and when I got home I was still feeling the tighteness in my chest.  My heart wasn't beating fast and I had no pain in left side so I knew that something else was wrong.  After all I had been having this for about two weeks.  So in bed my mind went crazy.  I kept thinking that I was having the big one.  That went on for about two hours.  I kept telling myself that all I had to do was make it through the night and I was going to see the doc in the morning.  Finally I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up about 5:45 this morning and felt so much better.  Much better.  I still had a small bit of pain right in the center of my chest but it was nothing I was alarmed about.

**Last night before I went to bed I was going to enter a blog about what I was feeling.  Instead, after I had written it, I decided to copy and give it to the doc when I saw him.  That was a good decision.**

When I was being "interviewed" by the male nurse he confirmed that he had just recently been experiencing the same thing.  He took some notes, read my notes and then the doc came in.  After taking an E.K.G. the doc confirmed that I had what the nurse had, a type of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.  But nothing was wrong with my heart.  A little high blood pressure but nothing to be alarmed about.

He prescribed Nexium.  Well my insurance carrier did not cover that $170.00 prescription so I had to resort to different methods.  I bought some gasx and gaviscom.  After work I went and bought some prilosec.  That seemed to be the better answer than the exhorbitant price for the top grade drug of the commercial pharmaceutical era.

I will start taking that tomorrow.  Right now I feel fine but I am going to make some changes for the time being.  Eat less at one time.  Go by the menu that I saw for this type of thing that I have.  I just do not want to go through that again.  My aunt said she has had the same thing happen to her and she went to emergency room and both times and was diagnosed with the same thing.
