On the way home tonight was a detour to the grocery store to purchase some bug killer.  Spider killer to be more exact.

So when I got home it was death to the spiders time.  I cased the entire outside of the house with bug spray in hand.  Most all of the spiders were little ones.  That was until I got the basement door.  It is a small door that opens into the crawl space below the house.  Right there in all its glory was a large, three inch in diameter, fully extended, black spider with long skinny legs perched right in the middle of its web.  It was, in all honesty, a pretty spider.  Had some nice yellow markings on its back.  But pretty or not, it had to die. After a good doucing, the spider writhed in pain, lost its grip and slowly tumbled towards the ground.  I watched it fall and all I could think about was it biting one of my animals so it got another shot of its death spray.  I watched it wiggle in pain for a bit and before I left it to its death, it got a third shot just for safe keeping. 

By the way, I got the courage to trash the dead one from yesterday and even though I am not into aracnaphobes, it looked like a brown recluse.  Death to the spiders!
